Peer pressure begins early. One-third of 4th graders and more than half
of 6th graders say they have been pressured by friends to drink alcohol.

But friends aren’t the only problem. Alcohol is the drug of choice for
most children because it is so easily accessible, the majority of
 whom find and
begin using it in their own homes.

The average age that our 8th and 10th graders say they first tried
alcohol is age 12.
